2025 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesisAlternative title
Graphic representation of football data (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Graphic visualizations in reporting and analysis within football are becoming increasingly prevalent. They are used, among other things, to display patterns, statistics, and tactical analysis. To ensure that the content being disseminated is comprehensible and that the message is effectively conveyed, it is necessary to understand the target audience and the factors that can influence how the material is received. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine a number of examples of visualizations of data from an analytical tool built on artificial intelligence. The aim is to ascertain how these visualizations are received by a potential target audience and to identify the factors/attributes that may contribute to their perception. The study employs a quantitative methodology, wherein a survey has been developed to gather empirical data. The survey questions were designed to explore respondents' perceptions of four graphical visualizations, as well as factors such as age, gender, interest in football, previous experiences, and more. Data collection was carried out through convenience sampling, resulting in 90 valid responses. The results of the study indicate that previous experience with similar visualizations and an interest in football can be factors that affect how a visualization of football data is perceived. It also demonstrates that certain types of visualizations are better suited for a more general audience to understand the content. Those who can benefit from the study are individuals or organizations involved in sports reporting and utilize graphical representations of data to enhance understanding and engagement among their target audience.
