Children with autism spectrum disorder are a growing group who seek healthcare more often than other children. The likelihood that the nurse anesthetist will encounter them in their work is high, as they more frequently require anesthesia for procedures and examinations. Therefore, the nurse anesthetist needs to work based on a child-centered approach. When the nurse anesthetist lacks knowledge about caring for children with autism spectrum disorder, it negatively affects the child, their relatives, and the nurse anesthetist. The aim was to describe perioperative care for children with autism spectrum disorder. A systematic integrative literature review was conducted, including a total of 12 scientific articles, which were analyzed and compiled according to the method by Whittemore and Knafl. The results, divided into three categories: challenges in perioperative care, holistic and tailored care from needs identification to implementation, and interventions in care, highlight the challenges that may arise in connection with perioperative care of children with autism spectrum disorder. These include the importance of early needs identification with the expertise of relatives, individually tailored care, collaboration with relatives to ensure continuity, flexibility and environmental adaptations, as well as strategies and tools for identifying needs. To personalize perioperative care for children with autism spectrum disorder, early identification of needs is essential. Collaboration, continuity, preparation, flexible solutions, and environmental adaptations were central components. By understanding the child's individual needs and being aware of the obstacles and challenges involved, the nurse anesthetist is better prepared to find flexible solutions, adapt the environment, and use appropriate tools and strategies during the perioperative care process.  

Barn med autismspektrumtillstånd är en växande grupp, som söker vård oftare än andra barn. Sannolikheten att anestesisjuksköterskan möter dem i sitt arbete är stor då de oftare behöver sövas inför ingrepp och undersökningar. Därav behöver anestesisjuksköterskan arbeta utifrån ett barncentrerat förhållningssätt. När anestesisjuksköterskan saknar kunskap om att vårda barn med autismspektrumtillstånd påverkar det både barnet, närstående och anestesisjuksköterskan negativt. Syftet var att beskriva perioperativa omvårdnaden för barn med autismspektrumtillstånd. En systematisk integrativ litteraturöversikt genomfördes där totalt 12 vetenskapliga artiklar inkluderades, vilka analyserades och sammanställdes enligt metoden av Whittemore och Knafl. Resultatets tre kategorier: utmaningar i den perioperativa omvårdnaden, helhetsanpassad omvårdnad- från behovsidentifiering till utförande samt interventioner i omvårdnaden, tydliggör de utmaningar som kan uppstå i samband med perioperativ omvårdnad av barn med autismspektrum tillstånd. Såsom vikten av tidig behovsidentifiering med närståendes expertis, individuellt anpassad omvårdnad, samverkan i kontinuitet med närstående, flexibilitet och miljörelaterade anpassningar, samt strategier och verktyg för att kunna identifiera behov. För att individanpassa den perioperativa omvårdnaden för barn med autismspektrumtillstånd behövs en tidig behovsidentifiering. Där samverkan, kontinuitet, förberedelser, flexibla lösningar och anpassningar i miljön var centrala komponenter. Genom att ha kunskap om barnets individuella behov och medvetenhet om vilka hinder och utmaningarna som finns är anestesisjuksköterskan mer förberedd för att hitta flexibla lösningar, anpassa miljön, och använda lämpliga verktyg och strategier i det perioperativa vårdförloppet.
