Abstract [sv]

Syfte:

Studiens syfte är att undersöka hinder och möjligheter i digitalt stödda projektprocesser samt identifiera och reducera slöserier genom ett mer standardiserat arbetssätt, med utgångspunkt i lean-filosofins principer.

Metod:

En kvalitativ fallstudie genomfördes med induktiv ansats. Empirin samlades in via semistrukturerade intervjuer med medarbetare involverade i projekthantering och analyserades med hjälp av tematisk analys. Processkartläggning genomfördes med Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) som stöd.

Slutsatser:

Slöseri i form av väntetider, omarbete och outnyttjad kreativitet identifierades som centrala hinder för effektivitet. Studien visar att lean-verktyg såsom 5S, kaizen och kanban kan stödja ett mer förutsägbart, transparent och användarcentrerat arbetssätt även i administrativa kontexter.

Implikationer:

Resultaten pekar på vikten av att förena digitala projektverktyg med organisatoriska förbättringsmetoder. En tydlig arbetsstruktur och visuell styrning kan stärka engagemang, ansvarstagande och systemanvändning, vilket i förlängningen förbättrar processkvalitet och resursutnyttjande.

Begränsningar:

Studien fokuserar på ett avgränsat fall och omfattar inte implementering av föreslagna förbättringar. Resultatens generaliserbarhet är till viss del begränsad, men de ger viktiga insikter för liknande kontexter inom projektbaserat arbete.

Abstract [en]

Purpose:

The purpose of this study is to explore obstacles and opportunities in digitally supported project processes, and to identify and reduce waste through a more standardized approach based on the lean philosophy.

Method:

A qualitative case study with an inductive approach was conducted. Empirical data were collected through semi-structured interviews with employees involved in project management and analyzed using thematic analysis. Process mapping was supported by the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) method.

Findings:

Waste in the form of waiting times, rework, and underutilized creativity was identified as key barriers to efficiency. The study demonstrates that lean tools such as 5S, kaizen, and kanban can support a more predictable, transparent, and user-centered approach, even in administrative contexts.

Implications:

The findings highlight the importance of integrating digital project tools with organizational improvement methods. A clear work structure and visual control can enhance engagement, accountability, and system usage, ultimately improving process quality and resource utilization.

Limitations:

The study is limited to a single case and does not include implementation of the proposed improvements. While generalizability is somewhat restricted, the results offer valuable insights for similar project-based contexts.
