Enterprise Architecture är ett verktyg för att strukturera upp och anpassa företags mål med deras IT. Tidigare forskning har fokuserat på EA i verksamheter men riktar sällan in sig till offentliga verksamheter. Denna undersökande uppsats har som syfte att utforska utmaningar och möjligheter med EA inom offentliga organisationer i Sverige. Studien fokuserar samtidigt på den digitala infrastrukturen och hur det kan påverka arbetsmiljöer och effektiviteten av EA implementering. Metodtriangulering har använts för att samla insikter från olika perspektiv, vilket säkerställer omfattande och korrekta forskningsresultat. Datainsamlingen innefattade en analys av en enkätundersökning bland anställda som arbetar inom IT-relaterade avdelningar på offentliga arbetsplatser i Sverige för att bedöma deras uppfattningar och erfarenheter av IT. Det gjordes även en dokumentstudie av SKR:s begrepp digital infrastruktur och vad det innebär. Samt en jämförelse av likheter med begreppet EA. Vidare gjordes två intervjuer av två personer som arbetar på Göteborgs stad. Personerna arbetar med IT och blev intervjuade för att diskutera möjligheter och utmaningar med EA och den digitala infrastrukturen i offentliga organisationer. Resultaten tyder på att EA tillsammans med digital infrastruktur kan spela en betydande roll för att förbättra effektiviteten i den offentliga sektorn. Samt en fastställning av vilka utmaningar och hinder som finns med den digitala infrastrukturen och EA.

Enterprise Architecture is a framework used to structure and align organizational goals with their IT. Previous research has focused on EA in private organizations but has rarely targeted public organizations. This exploratory thesis aims to investigate the challenges and opportunities of EA within public organizations in Sweden. The study also focuses on digital infrastructure and its impact on work environments and the efficiency of EA implementation. Method triangulation was employed to gather insights from various perspectives, ensuring comprehensive and accurate research results. The collected data included an analysis of a survey of employees working in IT-related departments in public workplaces in Sweden to assess their perceptions and experiences of IT. Furthermore, a document study of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions' (SKR) concept of digital infrastructure and its implications was conducted, along with a comparison of similarities with the EA concept. Two interviews were conducted with individuals within the public sector. The respondents, who work in IT, were interviewed to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with EA and digital infrastructure in public organizations. The results suggest that EA, together with digital infrastructure, can play a significant role in improving efficiency in the public sector, as well as highlighting the challenges and barriers associated with digital infrastructure and EA.
