Tolken är av naturliga skäl en central aktör för att kunna tillgodose rätten att vid behov biträdas av tolk under en förundersökning om brott. Det finns därför anledning att lyfta fram tolkens perspektiv och erfarenhet avseende tolkassisterade förhör. Studien har en induktiv utgångspunkt och syftet är dels att undersöka hur relationen mellan auktoriserade rättstolkar och polisens förhörsledare ser ut ur tolkens perspektiv, dels att undersöka om relationen påverkar kvaliteten på förhöret. Studien genomfördes med kvalitativ metod där sju semistrukturerade intervjuer med auktoriserade rättstolkar låg till grund för datainsamlingen. Genom tematisk analys kunde tre huvudteman identifieras och därefter sättas i perspektiv till tidigare forskning. De tre huvudteman som identifierades benämndes förberedelser inför förhöret, genomförandet av förhöret samt miljö och utbyte. Varje huvudtema delades sedan in i underteman. Studien visar att respondenterna anser att relationen till förhörsledaren är god men att det finns förbättringsmöjligheter samt att relationen påverkar kvaliteten på förhöret. Studien presenterar implikationer utifrån resultat och analys. 

For natural reasons the interpreter plays a central role to satisfy the right to be assisted by an interpreter when necessary during a criminal investigation. Therefore, there is reason to examine interpreter’s perspective and experience regarding interpreter-assisted investigative interviews. The current study has an inductive approach, and the purpose is partly to investigate the relationship between authorized legal interpreters and police interviewers, and partly to investigate whether or not the relationship has any impact on the quality of the investigative interview. The study was carried out using a qualitative method where seven semi-structured interviews with authorized legal interpreters formed the basis for the data collection. A thematic analysis led to the identification of three themes that was put into perspective to previous research. The three main themes identified were named preparations for the investigative interview, the execution of the investigative interview and the environment and exchange. Each main theme was then divided into sub-themes. The study shows that the respondents perceive that the relationship with the police interviewer is good, but that there is room for improvement and that the relationship does affect the quality of the investigative interview. The study presents implications based on results and analysis.
