Abstract [sv]

Tiden efter förlossning benämns postpartum och kan vara en sårbar och omtumlande tid. Kvinnor postpartum har behov av preventivmedel, men har setts använda sig av lågeffektiva eller inget preventivmedel överhuvudtaget. Barnmorskor ansvarar för preventivmedelsrådgivning för att kunna tillgodose kvinnors sexuella och reproduktiva hälsa genom hela livet. Syftet med studien var att identifiera vad kvinnor upplever betydelsefullt vid valet av preventivmedel postpartum. För att besvara studiens syfte valdes en systematisk litteraturöversikt som metod. Tretton kvalitativa artiklar valdes ut till studiens resultat. Resultatet bestod av tre huvudteman som belyste vad kvinnor upplevde betydelsefullt vid val av preventivmedel postpartum och bestod av Känsla av trygghet och delaktighet, Enkelt och pålitligt avgör valet av preventivmedel samt Bemötande och information i vårdmötet. Resultatet identifierade att kvinnor upplevde det betydelsefullt att känna sig trygg med valet av preventivmedel postpartum. Trygghet innebar att uppleva god reproduktiv hälsa och att vara trygg med sitt val att amma i förhållande till preventivmedelsanvändning. Kvinnor upplevde att social delaktighet med partner, vänner och familj var betydelsefullt när de valde preventivmedel postpartum. Kvinnor upplevde det även betydelsefullt med ett pålitligt preventivmedel som var enkelt att använda. Ytterligare belystes hur betydelsefullt det var med information och bra bemötande från barnmorskor vid preventivmedelsrådgivning. Diskussionen belyser att det är viktigt att barnmorskor förstår vad kvinnor upplever betydelsefullt vid val av preventivmedel postpartum. Ökad förståelse kan leda till kvinnocentrerad preventivmedelsrådgivning som ökar förutsättningen för självständiga val som kan bidra till stärkt empowerment.

Abstract [en]

The period after giving birth is called postpartum and is known as a time of vulnerability. Women postpartum has a need of contraception, but it also has been seen that they use contraception with low efficiency or no contraception at all. Midwives have the responsibility to counsel about contraceptives to ensure women's sexual and reproductive health through life. The purpose of this study was to identify what women believed was important when choosing postpartum contraceptive. To answer the purpose of this study, a systematic literature review was chosen as the method. Thirteen qualitative articles were selected to represent the result. The result contained of three main themes that highlighted what women felt was important when choosing contraceptives postpartum. The themes were Feeling of Safety and Complicity, Simple and Reliable determines the choice of contraception and Treat and Information in healthcare. The results identified that women felt it was important to feel safe with the choice of contraception postpartum. Safety was related to experience god reproductive health and being confident with one’s choice to breastfeed in relation to contraceptive use. Women experienced that social complicity with partners, friends and family was important when choosing contraception postpartum. Women also found it important to have a reliable contraceptive that was easy to use. Furthermore, it was highlighted how important it was with information and good treatment from midwives when providing contraceptive counseling. The discussion highlights that it’s important that midwives understand what women find important when choosing contraceptives postpartum. Increased understanding can lead to woman-centered contraceptive counseling that increases the prerequisite for independent choices that can contribute to strengthened empowerment.
