The New Cyborg : Artificial Intelligence and HR (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to explore and understand HR professionals attitudes and experiences related to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in Human Resource Management (HRM). Using a qualitative method with an inductive approach and semi-structured interviews, six HR professionals were engaged to map their experiences and perceptions of AI. The results show that AI can improve the efficiency and quality of HR processes, particularly in recruitment, employee development, and administrative tasks. Knowledge about AI and its applications in HR is still in an early stage, but there is a strong appetite for acquiring more knowledge about AI. There is also some fear as AI redefines job roles. The results highlight the importance of maintaining a human presence in the work. The study's conclusion shows how AI both enhances and challenges traditional HRM strategies, requiring a balance between technological efficiency and human values, giving HR more space to work strategically. Since AI is better suited to perform tasks requiring fewer cognitive and socio-emotional skills, the job market and job roles will be redefined, which has already started. HR has a significant responsibility to redistribute human resources in this transformation. The goal of the study is to shed light on this new uncharted territory that AI together with HRM currently represents and to add value in the form of knowledge to the reader.
