Abstract [sv]

Utvecklingen inom ämnesområdet artificiell intelligens har under senare år nått nya milstolpar med framväxten av stora språkmodeller. Detta har lett till utvecklingen av generativa AIverktyg såsom ChatGPT och Copilot. Tidigare forskning indikerar att verktygen har stor potential att kunna effektivisera och öka produktiviteten i många olika domäner. Denna undersökning ämnade att kartlägga tillämpningen av generativ AI (GAI) inom systemutveckling och vilka effekter dess användning har. Med en kvalitativ metod intervjuades åtta personer yrkesverksamma inom systemutveckling. Resultatet pekar på att GAI tillämpas i hög grad inom systemutveckling, där tillämpningen är särskilt utmärkande inom implementationsfasen av systemutvecklingslivscykeln. Tillämpningen omfattar områden såsom autokomplettering av kod, generering av enkla kodstrukturer, problemlösning och informationssökning. Användningen uppfattas medföra positiva effekter som ökad effektivitet och produktivitet, särskilt genom att underlätta repetitiva uppgifter, erbjuda snabb tillgång till information och vara till hjälp vid problemlösning. Det finns däremot en utbredd försiktighet bland respondenterna gällande delning av konfidentiella data samt en medvetenhet om verktygens begränsningar och potentiella felaktigheter. Det finns tydliga utmaningar som uppstår i samband med användningen, särskilt kring datasäkerhet och pålitlighet. Trots detta finns en positiv syn på teknologin framöver och respondenterna har beskrivit flera framtida tillämpningsmöjligheter för att effektivisera arbetet och automatisera uppgifter.  

Abstract [en]

The development in artificial intelligence has recently reached new milestones with the emergence of large language models. This has led to the development of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot. Previous research describes that the tools have immense potential to increase efficiency and productivity in many different domains. This study's purpose is to develop an understanding of generative AI (GAI) applications in systems development and investigate its effects. Using a qualitative method, eight people working in the domain of systems development were interviewed. The result indicates that GAI is applied to a high degree in some of the processes in systems development, the application is particularly distinctive within the implementation phase of the systems development life cycle. The application covers areas such as autocompletion of code, generation of simple code structures, problem solving and the search of information. The use is perceived to bring positive effects such as increased efficiency and productivity, especially by facilitating repetitive tasks, offering quick access to information and being helpful in problem solving. However, there is widespread caution among the participants of this study regarding the sharing of confidential data and awareness of the limitations and potential inaccuracies of these tools. There are challenges constricting the extent to which these tools can be used with concerns to data security and reliability. Despite these issues, the view of the technology going forward is positive, and the interviewed participants have described potential future applications that could positively impact efficiency and automate tasks. The study that follows is written in Swedish.
