Universeum is a science center located in central Gothenburg, which strive to raise curiosity for science and technology in children. A prestudy was conducted during March 2016 to evaluate the navigation structure and content of Universeum’s website. The results showed problems with the categories and link names in the navigation menu, and that informative content was being overlooked by the users. In this thesis we provide web development prototype suggestions on how the navigation menu and content should change to improve user experience while serving Universeum’s purpose. In order to improve the user experience we conducted usability tests and interviews with parents and their children, who are the target group of Universeum, to be able to understand how they use the site and for which purposes. Furthermore, a card sorting-session was conducted with parents to be able to suggest a better navigation system. Card sorting-session analysis showed that there is a need for more categories and more meaningful category names. Based on our analysis a few prototypes are presented which suggest how to improve user experience and increase interest from children by extended functionality involving images, videos and audio files.
