Children's librarians work with children's creation : as part of the library's mission (English)
Abstract [en]

The aim of this study is to contribute with knowledge on how Swedish children's librarians work with children's creation in libraries and how they motivate it based on the library's mission. The result of the study was gathered using semistructured interviews and then analyzed through thematic analyze. The result of the interviews were then categorized through four themes with focus on children's creation as value in itself for the child, inclusion, participation and reading promotion. The analytic framework made it possible to see those four themes. In the discussion, I also related those motives to previous research, that also made it possible to highlight other perspectives. My conclusion was that the motives interact with each other and depend on each other in different ways. They are all part of the library's mission and can stand next to each other as long as they do not interfere with children's creative process. I also make suggestions for further research that encourage to contribute with more research on those motives. A more quantitative research is also needed to make generalization.
