Cardiac arrest is an acute cardiological condition that can lead to death. Today, more people survive, but there is a lack of knowledge about how the physical challenges affect the psychological experience. The nurse has a responsibility to provide care from a holistic perspective with both body and soul, to alleviate suffering and promote health. Through the nurse's knowledge of the problem, there is the opportunity to promote health. The purpose is to shed light on the survivors' experience of life after cardiac arrest. The method is a literature review of studies with a qualitative approach. Twelve articles were selected, quality checked and analysed, where ten subthemes and three themes were identified. The results show how survivors describe the experience of caregivers focusing on the somatic and how the person behind the sickness is forgotten. Survivors describe how they feel that they do not receive enough information and that they seek answers themselves about the consequences of cardiac arrest. Not being able to perform activities that were previously appreciated creates a feeling of lost identity. The reminder of the cardiac arrest causes anxiety and worry, which leads to the desire to escape. The compressed independence creates a feeling of being a burden. The new challenges create awareness of the life before and constitute a breaking point and a gratitude for having been given a second chance. The discussion highlights how the lost identity leads to a changed experience of the lived body. The impact of cardiac arrest changes the perspective of time, which in relation to the future creates suffering. When care is lacking, caring care is absent. 

Hjärtstopp är ett akut kardiologiskt sjukdomstillstånd som kan leda till döden. Idag överlever fler, dock saknas kunskap hur de fysiska utmaningarna påverkar den psykiska upplevelsen. Sjuksköterskan har ansvar att vårda utifrån ett helhetsperspektiv med både kroppen och själen, för att lindra lidande och främja hälsa. Genom sjuksköterskans kunskap om problematiken, finns möjligheten att kunna främja hälsa. Syftet är att belysa överlevarnas upplevelse av livet efter hjärtstopp. Metoden är en litteraturöversikt av studier med kvalitativ ansats. Tolv artiklar valdes, kvalitetsgranskades och analyserades där tio subteman och tre teman identifierades. Resultatet visar hur överlevare beskriver upplevelsen av att vårdare lägger fokus på det somatiska och hur människan bakom sjukdomen glöms bort. Överlevare beskriver hur de upplever att de inte får tillräckligt med information och att de söker svar själva om följderna av hjärtstopp. Att inte kunna utföra aktiviteter som tidigare uppskattats skapar känsla av förlorad identitet. Påminnelsen om hjärtstoppet ger ångest och oro vilket leder till önskan om flykt. Den begränsande självständigheten skapar en känsla av att vara en börda. De nya utmaningarna skapar medvetenhet om livet innan och utgör en brytpunkt samt en tacksamhet för att ha fått en andra chans. Diskussionen belyser hur den förlorade identiteten leder till en förändrad upplevelse av den levda kroppen. Hjärtstoppets påverkan förändrar perspektivet av tiden, vilket i relation till framtid skapar lidande. När vården brister uteblir den vårdande vården.
