The purpose of this study is to contribute to an increased understanding of how school librarians work as an educational resource. This is done through interviewing five school librarians about their work and analyzing the empirical data using Carol Kuhlthau’s model of “five levels of education”. The results show that the school librarians take on multiple roles, but that there are also obstacles and prerequisites for them to be fully integrated in the school systems. These obstacles and prerequisites are analyzed, presented, and compared to previous research in the field.
