    Abstract [en]

    This study investigated the effect of feedback on the accuracy (realism) of 12-year-old children's metacognitive judgments of their answers to questions about a film clip. Two types of judgments were investigated: confidence judgments (on each question) and frequency judgments (i.e. estimates of overall accuracy). The source of feedback, whether it was presented as provided by a teacher or a peer child, did not influence metacognitive accuracy. Four types of feedback were given depending on whether the participant's answer was correct and depending on whether the feedback confirmed or disconfirmed the child's answer. The children showed large overconfidence when they received confirmatory feedback but much less so when they received disconfirmatory feedback. The children gave frequency judgments implying that they had more correct answers than they actually had. No main gender differences were found for any of the measures. The results indicate a high degree of malleability in children's metacognitive judgments.

    Abstract [en]

    Today there is ample evidence that the Cognitive Interview (CI) enhances witnesses’ memory. However, less is known about how the CI affects eyewitnesses’ confidence. To address this shortcoming we conducted a study analyzing how realism in confidence was affected by the CI. All participants (n /79) were first shown a filmed kidnapping. After 2 weeks we interviewed one-third of the participants according to the guidelines of the CI, one-third according to a Standard Interview (SI), and one-third were not interviewed at all (Control condition). Participants in all three conditions were then asked to answer 45 forced-choice questions, and to give a confidence judgment after each choice. For the 45 questions, no differences in accuracy were found between the three conditions. Confidence was higher in the CI and SI conditions, compared with the Control condition. CI and SI did not differ in metacognitive realism but both showed lower realism compared with the Control condition, although only CI significantly so. The results indicate that the inflation in confidence is more likely to be explained in terms of a reiteration effect , than as a consequence of the particular mnemonics characterizing the CI (e.g. ‘‘mental reinstatement of context’’). In sum, CI does not seem to impair (or improve) the realism in witnesses’ confidence, and does not inflate confidence in erroneous recall, compared to a SI

    Abstract [en]

    This study investigates the influence on the realism of confidence judgments of four different factors, the individual, the knowledge domain (crystallized and fluid intelligence), gender and cognitive style (Need-for-Cognition, NfC). Seventy-nine high-school students answered questions on word knowledge (WORD) and logical/spatial ability (DTK); both tests were administered on three occasions with two weeks between each trial. After each test question, each individual gave a confidence rating of his or her answer. The results showed some, but not perfect, individual stability. Furthermore, within-subject differences were found between domains (WORD/DTK); the participants showed better calibration and less overconfidence for the WORD-test as compared to the DTK-test. No stable gender differences were found for any of the two tests. Finally, the results show that having high NfC is not associated with better realism in confidence judgments. These results suggest that the realism of confidence judgments is, at least on the distal level, influenced by many different factors.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this thesis is to examine the relationship between user education at high schools and the context in which it takes place. In order to accomplish this qualitative interviews have been executed with librarians at five Swedish high schools. The theoretical framework of this thesis is based on the sociocultural perspective and four approaches to user education developed by Olof Sundin. Based on the empirical material six themes have been identified. Each one represents a contextual factor which influences the user education. These are the teachers, the audience, the access to information technology needed in the education, the amount of lesson time, the librarian’s thoughts concerning the planning of the lessons and the room in which the lesson takes place. The themes mainly influence the contents of the education, how often it takes place and where it takes place. The study implies that the teachers are very important, because they have the ability to decide whether or not the user education is to happen. Likewise, their influence on the contents of the education can be rather large. Except for this they also know their classes, which is important when planning the education. A lack of information about the class may cause the librarian to plan the education according to assumptions of their knowledge in the area based on previous experiences of other classes. Thus the teachers can be said to have a key position for the user education today, and for its future.

    Abstract [en]

    Global sourcing has increased rapidly within the apparel-and textile industry over the last 20 years. Fashion companies are constantly searching for new sourcing countries to gain cost- and competitive advantages. The search for lower cost and reduction of trade barriers has driven a number of companies to adapt a global sourcing strategy. However, this strategy has contribute to an increase complexity in the sourcing process and expose companies to a number of risk. The purpose with this study is to examine which areas a fashion company should investigate when choosing a sourcing country to avoid potential risks. Through an extensive literature review we have gathered critical factors to consider when selecting new sourcing markets. The empirical part is based on qualitative semi-structured interviews and observations with one selected Swedish fashion brand. The study has been supplemented with scientific articles and documents provided by the selected company. The result of the study show that, country selection depend on which factors companies values the most in relation to the amount of risks the company can endure. The sourcing process differs from countries and product, with different risk factors, which makes the sourcing process complex and difficult to control.

    Abstract [en]

    The Co-design practices are carried out in different fields of studies. Some of the key advocates of Co-design originate from business. In this study the four steps of Co-design approach is applied. From the first step of Co-design, through interviews, log analysis and a channel survey, findings show that the failed dialogues with Avatar Eva are mainly concerned with five factors: interactivity; dialogue capability; consistency; knowledge; and synonyms. In the second step, carrying out customer workshops, we suggested ten ideal scenarios for Avatar Eva to perform better. In the third step, SAS decision makers decided to implement the first three scenarios: Eva’s synonyms; knowledge and Eva’s consistency. In the fourth step, another channel survey was carried out as well as a new log analysis to know the impact of the redevelopment above three scenarios. An important result of the study was that the company adopted a continuous use of Co-design as an approach of continuous improvement of the service quality performed by the Avatar Eva. It also opens a new set of questions framing the relation and transformation between Co-design as a research approach for knowledge creation and Co-design as a method for innovation and service quality improvements. The study presents an Extended Co-design Model, which illustrates how the Co-design inspires staff to use it for other functions within and without the SAS.

    International Higher Education: Local Initiatives Enabling Global Citizens2016Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

    Education at University of Borås is internationally connected to varying degree and form. This report looks at a selection of initiatives in order to explore the past, present and future role of UB internationalization. As a basis for the review, 7 students are interviewed on their international experience in their education – exchange studies and minor field studies (MFS) respectively. The participants stress the role of personal development and career enablement, and perceive their international experience as a distinct, unique element of their education. Possibilities and problems are then identified and related to the current literature on international education, learning and pedagogics. The study lands in a critical discussion on the future development of UB education. Key points of development: To meet the Bologna 20 percent commitment, more efforts need to be made on promoting and enabling internationalization to students, faculty and administrators. Curricular hurdles need to be removed as not to hamper students’ programme progression for going abroad. Teachers’ competency building efforts such as the Teaching and learning in higher education course could benefit from further elements of internationalization.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis aims towards an understanding of information systems and subject representation in relation to academic disciplines. This is achieved by comparing how a discipline, History of science and ideas, represents itself compared with the subject representation of its dissertations in an information system, LIBRIS. The point of departure for this thesis is the domain analytic view of Hjorland which states that the quality in information seeking is enhanced if the subject representation considers the contexts in which documents are produced and used. The importance of concepts such as domain and discipline is discussed. The disciplines view of itself is established by the study of articles written by scholars in the discipline, by how the discipline presents itself on the homepages of five university institutions and by the examination of titles and keywords given to dissertations in the discipline. The information systems representation of the discipline is examined regarding classification codes, subject headings and index terms given to the dissertations of the discipline. This comparison is an attempt to discover possible discrepancies between the two representations. This examination does not find any significant discrepancies between the two representations, as the subject representation does confirm the disciplines view of itself as a discipline that studies the relations between man, society and nature. What it does find, however, is that the subject representation does not, to any greater extent, recognize the discipline as such, as there is little evidence of which context the dissertations originates from. This is then discussed in relation to Hjorlands view that disciplines ought to be regarded as entities in knowledge organization and reflected in information systems.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the work of Employment Service's when helping new immigrants in finding a job based on their sex, education and age. A survey was distributed to persons who have had an ”establishment plan” at the Employment Service in the last five years this would give us an overview of the customer's perspective. The survey was distributed digitally. The result from the questionnaire would help us answer our question regarding that everyone got the same help regardless of sex, educational level or age. Through the study, we also wanted to see if gender or education level has any effect on entering the job market. We supported our study by researches, to get a good picture of the area of focus; establishment and employment agency. In this investigation, we compared the of employment rates among foreign-born versus native-born. This helps us see how employment for foreigners has been in Sweden over time. We believe that it gives us a better understanding of how and why things happen. Our study showed that there’s in a correlation between gender or education level and entering the labor market as well as getting help from the Employment Service. We recommend the studies used of this field (both quantitative and qualitative) in order to see that the results continue to be the same as we received from our study and also why the results look like it does.

    Syftet med vår undersökning var vad som görs i Göteborgs stad när det kommer till att öka jämställdheten mellan killar och tjejer inom idrottens grenar. Men även att få en djupare förståelse för hur Göteborgs stad arbetar med jämställdhetsfrågorna inom idrotten. För att svara på vårt syfte så använde vi oss utav tre följande frågeställningar och dessa är: Vad gör politikerna och tjänstepersonalen i Göteborg i deras roller för att skapa en jämställd idrott? Vad är Idrotts- och föreningsförvaltningens och nämndens drivkraft till att arbeta med jämställdhet inom idrotten? Får föreningar stöd från kommunen i hur de skall jobba för att öka jämställdheten? Undersökningens teoribegrepp bygger på Yvonne Hirdmans genussystem, genusskapande, stereotyp modellen och genuskontraktet där hon beskriver att mannen är utgör normen och är kontraktskrivare. Vi har även utgått ifrån folkhälsan ur ett genusperspektiv och patriarkat som teoribegrepp. Vi har utfört semistrukturerade intervjuer med respondenter som är politiker och tjänstepersonal som arbetar med idrotts- och föreningsförvaltningen i Göteborgs stad, detta för att få en djupare förståelse för hur situationen ser ut för tjejer inom idrotten. Resultatet i vår undersökning visar att killar gynnas i större utsträckning än tjejer när det kommer till ekonomiska medel, träningstider och investeringar. Att traditionellt manliga sporter prioriteras i högre grad av kommunen och att föreningar inte har någon skyldighet att främja tjejer i deras idrottsutövande.

    Abstract [sv]

    Goodwill är ett kontroversiellt begrepp och har varit mycket omdiskuterat inom redovisningslitteraturen. På senare år har andelen redovisad goodwill ökat och blivit en betydande post i företagets balansräkningar. Enligt IFRS 3 ska anskaffad goodwill beräknas som skillnaden mellan köpeskillingen och identifierbara tillgångar och skulder. Eftersom goodwill ofta baseras på ett restvärde och att både IFRS 3 och IAS 36 uppmanar användarna att göra subjektiva bedömningar skapas utrymme för manipulation i redovisningen. Anledningen till det är att redovisningsdata ofta används som underlag för att mäta chefers prestation. Goodwill skapar därför utrymme för cheferna att efter egen bedömning rapportera om postens värde både initialt och i samband med nedskrivningsprövningar. Bedömningarna motiveras ofta med att goodwill förväntas bidra med framtida kassaflöden. Då det är svårt att kunna beräkna och kontrollera framtida kassaflöden på ett tillförlitligt sätt är det intressant att undersöka hur företag motiverar sina värden på goodwill. Syftet med denna studie är därför att skapa en förståelse för vilka effekter IFRS har på redovisningen av goodwill och att undersöka chefers motiv till goodwillredovisning. De frågeställningar som studien baseras på är på vilken grund initialvärdet av goodwill fastställs samt på vilket omdöme nedskrivningen av goodwill baseras. Studien omfattar 12 olika bolag noterade på OMX Stockholm Large Cap. En innehållsanalys har gjorts baserad på årsredovisningar från respektive företag mellan åren 2010 och 2012. För att besvara frågeställningarna har teori och empiri varvats och omtolkats med hjälp av varandra. De teorier som har använts är principal- och agentteorin samt enhetsteorin. Teorin, grundläggande redovisningsprinciper och standards har utgjort en grund för förståelse av empirin. På så vis har mönster observerats som har bidragit till att förstå och tolka på vilka grunder goodwillposten värderas. Studiens resultat bidrar till att visa att det i dagsläget inte finns något sätt att säkerställa att goodwill genererar de positiva synergieffekter som ledningen i företagen initialt påstår att posten kommer att göra. Anledningen till det är att posten grundas på bedömningar som är svåra och kanske omöjliga att verifiera. Därför kan upplysningarna kring goodwill anses vara spekulativa. Studien pekar även på att det kan finnas underliggande motiv som påverkar chefernas värdering av goodwill både initialt och i samband med nedskrivningsprövningar.

    A symbiotic relationship exists between technology and caring, however, technologically advanced environments challenge caregivers. The aim of this study is to uncover the meaning of being a caregiver in the technologically intense environment. Ten open-ended interviews with intensive care personnel comprise the data. A phenomenological analysis shows that ambiguity abounds in the setting. The act of responsibly reading and regulating instruments easily melds the patient and the machinery into one clinical picture. The fusion skews the balance between objective distance and interpersonal closeness. The exciting captivating lure of technological gadgets seduces the caregivers and lulls them into a fictive sense of security and safety. It is mind-boggling and heart-rending to juggle ‘moments’ of slavish mastery and security menaced by insecurity in the act of monitoring a machine while caring for a patient. Whenever the beleaguered caregiver splits technique from human touch, ambiguity decays into ambivalence. Caring and technology become polarized. Everyone loses. Caregiver competence wanes; patients suffer. The intensive care unit should be technologically sophisticated, but also build-in a disclosive space where solace, trust, and reassurance naturally happen. Caring professionals need to balance state-of-the-art technology with integrated and comprehensive care and harmonize the demands of subjectivity with objective signs.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this thesis is to examine collaborative tagging as a potential asset to libraries by a review of 10 social bookmarking sites and their features, and a discussion of these features’ possible use when the environment changes from the web to a library. Previous research on collaborative tagging is presented, as well as overviews of social bookmarking, folksonomies and the concept of Web 2.0 and Library 2.0. The study itself is presented as a walkthrough of common features and how they work, followed by a schematic overview of which sites have which features. Finally each site is presented in a more detailed manner. An example of social bookmarking within a library, PennTags, is then also described. The results show that there are great differences to be found among the social bookmarking sites, in both features and in which tools they offer. As some features have become more common since previous similar studies, there are also one or two unique features for almost every site. Many of the younger sites have adopted the more social approach instead of being mainly an organizational tool, with an emphasis on features like groups and lists of friends. The analysis uses previous research and the results combined to answer which features could be suitable for a library environment, and how to use them. The conclusion is that many features can be considered useful in a library portal, although not all, and that the motives and preferences of each library affect which features are suitable.

    Digitala presentationer har ökat lavinartat som ett hjälpmedel i undervisningen inom alla stadier och alla nivåer i skolan. Lärarutbildarna är de som undervisar morgondagens lärare och rapportens syfte är att redogöra deskriptivt hur lärarutbildare resonerar kring användandet av digitala presentationer i föreläsningar vid lärarutbildningen. Den teoretiska ramen för rapporten är Berger och Luckmanns socialkonstruktivistiska perspektiv där både teorin ses utifrån ett kulturanalysperspektiv, men också som ett kunskapsinhämtningsperspektiv. Perspektivet ställs mot Gustafssons teori om motspråk. 90% av lärarutbildarna använder alltid eller ofta digitala presentationer under sina föreläsningar vid lärarutbildningen i X-stad och att det finns två huvudargument för detta.Det första är för studenternas skull och det andra är för den egna lärarens skull. Underliggande faktorer till användandet är att det digitala hjälpmedlet är ett stöd för minnet och strukturen för läraren. Andra faktorer kan vara inre och yttre stress. Ett inkluderande perspektiv är en av motiveringarna för användandet liksom tillgängligheten av föreläsningsmaterialet före och efter föreläsningen. En förstudie i form av en enkät har gjorts, vilken följdes upp av djupintervjuer med sju stycken lärarutbildare. Enligt den socialkonstruktivistiska teorin så uppkommer och främjas kunskap i kollektiva processer. Digitala presentationer i undervisningen medverkar till att föreläsningarna blir envägskommunikation, vilket går emot ovan nämnda teori för främjande av bildande. Kulturer och roller i kulturen skapas genom typifiering och habitualisering och ett motspråk behövs för att bryta mönstret av läraren som envägskommunikatör där studenter ses utifrån ett objektperspektiv.

    Bakgrund Fokus i barnomsorgen har under senare år skiftat och nu har pedagogiken en större roll i förskolan än tidigare. Detta innebär att pedagoger bör arbeta med barns inlärning. För att ett lärande ska ske behöver barn känna sig trygga vilket lyfts av både nationell och internationell forskning. Syfte Syftet med studien är att belysa pedagogers och psykologers tankar och åsikter kring barnens möjligheter att skapa trygga relationer till pedagoger på förskolan. Metod Metoden som har valts är en kvalitativ studie där intervju är redskapet som använts. Fyra pedagoger med lång erfarenhet av arbete på småbarnsavdelning samt en psykolog intervjuades. Genom noggrann analys och bearbetning av det insamlade materialet diskuterades ett resultat fram. Resultat I resultatet framkom det att de yngre barnens vistelsetider har ökat betydligt under senare år. En av orsakerna visade sig vara föräldrarnas arbetsvillkor och vilket område familjer bor. Det framkom även att storleken på småbarnsgrupperna har ökat. Detta i samband med det ökade vistelsetiderna för barnen, försvårar pedagogernas möjligheter att erbjuda barn den tid de behöver för att känna trygghet. Resultatet visar också att det finns en stor medvetenhet hos pedagogerna kring detta. En hög arbetsbelastning med många uppgifter utanför barngrupperna gör att pedagogerna upplever sig frustrerade och maktlösa. Personaltätheten är också en problematik som pedagogerna tacklas med i vardagen. Dock visar resultatet på att pedagogerna har insikt om vikten av ett förhållningssätt som främjar trygga relationer, där man möter kollegor och barn med lyhördhet, acceptans och värme.

    The aim of this bachelor thesis is to examine how medical librarians relate to their occupational identity and mediation of information. New technology and new ways of communicating information have influenced the profession of medical librarians and their duties, why it is important to examine their occupational identity. The research questions are: How do medical librarians perceive and relate to their occupational identity and as information intermediaries? How do medical librarians relate to their duties? The method used in this study is semi-structured interviews and the empirical information was analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The theory used for analyzing the results is Anders Øroms theory about six different identites which occurred in line with the development of society. The conclusion is that medical librarians have different and complex perceptions of their occupational identities but quite similar perceptions regarding their duties. One of Anders Øroms identities regarding mediation of information is the identity that suits medical librarians best. After further analysis using Øroms theory the need to add two identities emerged, one identity regarding information service and one about communication. By adding those two identities it is easier to understand the connection to the occupational identity of medical librarians.

    För att kunna ge barn inflytande över verksamheten är det betydande att förskollärare har en klar bild över vad begreppet inflytande innebär. Därför har jag valt att göra en undersökning där syftet är att synliggöra förskollärarens perspektiv på inflytande, hur barn ges möjlighet till inflytande i verksamheten och på så sätt bidra med kunskap inom området. För att uppnå syftet använder jag mig av frågeställningarna: vad innebär inflytande för förskolläraren samt vilka möjligheter ger förskollärare barn till inflytande i planering av verksamheten. Förskolan och förskollärarna är till för barnen på förskolan, därför kan det verka självklart att deras tankar och idéer ska ligga till grund för förskolans utformning men studien visar på att vägen dit kan vara svår.Tidigare forskning som presenteras i studien belyser styrdokument och riktlinjer, innebörden av begreppet inflytande, hur inflytande tas och ges av vuxna samt hinder och villkor för barns inflytande.Eftersom det krävs samspel mellan förskollärare och barn för att skapa inflytande tillämpad den sociokulturella teorin. Relevant för studien är även Foucaults maktteori för att synliggöra maktens osynliga styrning vid barns möjlighet till inflytande.En kvalitativ metod har tillämpats och utförs i en fokusgrupp. Fokusgruppen har som syfte att genom en diskussion ta reda på förskollärarnas erfarenheter och åsikter kring deras perspektiv på inflytande samt arbetet kring barns inflytande. Ett målinriktat urval gjordes där fyra förskollärare tackade ja till att delta i studien men ett bortfall skedde så det blev totalt tre respondenter. Bearbetning av det insamlade materialet har skett genom kvalitativ analys och hänsyn till de forskningsetiska principerna har tagit hänsyn till genom hela studiens process.Resultatet visar på att som svar på frågan vad inflytande innebär för förskolläraren är slutsatsen som kan dras av studien att inflytande innebär demokrati och självständighet. Som svar på frågan vilka möjligheter förskollärare ger barn till inflytande i planering av verksamheten visar resultaten på att förskollärares förhållningssätt är avgörande, det innebär att förskollärare bör vara närvarande och delaktiga i barns lek samt vara uppmärksam på vad de ger uttryck för.Den viktigaste slutsatsen som kan dras av studien är att förskollärares förhållningssätt är en aspekt som ligger till grund för barns inflytande och hur förskollärarna arbetar med demokratiska principer. Arbetet kring barns självständighet samt hur förskollärarna förhåller sig till barnens kompetens och vilket ansvar som ges därefter är även en viktig slutsats som kan dras av studien.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this Master’s thesis is to investigate issues concerning librarians’ view on three genres, (a) popular literature for women, (b) popular literature for men and (c) erotic literature, when choosing what to buy for their libraries. A qualitative method has been used and the empery consists of seven qualitative interviews with altogether eight librarians involved in choosing and buying literature. The theoretical framework is built on theories regarding concepts of hegemony and cultural hegemony; the male sex as norm; taste culture and quality. The results show that three of the libraries in the study have a written purchase policy and that the policies that exist are very general. Guiding elements when buying literature are quality, objectivity, diversity and availability. Many of the informants use the library service-lists when choosing what to buy, whilst others try to get away from this for economic reasons. The informants often get proposals from the library visitors. In the cases when they reject suggestions, it is often due to racist, offending, violent or narrow-minded content. All of the informants try to keep a quality perspective when choosing literature. Popular literature is bought as a consequence to high demand, but sometimes it is rejected on grounds of low quality. Earlier, several writers of the romance-genre have been rejected but are accepted nowadays. Popular literature for men is commonly bought and many of the informants confirm that they have been more liberal when buying this genre compared to love novels. Erotic literature was present in all libraries except one, and was bought on grounds of good reviews or for being classics. The study shows that erotic literature is not bought if it is regarded too violent, humiliating or of low quality. Humiliation and violence is accepted to a higher degree if it takes part in an erotic classic compared to a newer book of a less known author.

    Under åren augusti 2007 till augusti 2010 har projektet Språk-kedjan – en obruten kedja för alla barns tal- och språkutveckling pågått i Halland. Tanken bakom begreppet Språk-kedjan var att det ska finnas både en obruten språk- och vårdkedja i Halland. Vi ville finna metoder och samarbetsformer bland aktörer som på olika sätt har ansvar för förskolebarn i Halland. Vi ville ge dessa barn bra förutsättningar för att de ska behålla lusten till att utforska språket för att längre fram kunna utveckla god läs- och skrivkunnighet. När vi nu är inne på slutfasen av projektet kan vi konstaterat att det blivit mycket lyckosamt. Vi, som projektledare, ser det erfarenhets- och kompetensutbytet som skett mellan de olika professionerna i referensgruppen och alla de metoder och material som det resulterat i, som en av de största framgångarna med projektet.     Abstract [en]

    The aim of this Master’s thesis is to examine how librarians, information specialists and teachers discuss Wikipedia within national (Swedish) professional journals. Questions asked in the study are: How is Wikipedia perceived in the professional journals? What different positions do writers and commentators take in relation to Wikipedia? 133 articles from 31 different professional journals in the period from 2001 to the middle of 2010 were analysed. The theory and method used is Laclau’s and Mouffe’s discourse theory from which we created our own model with sex different steps. The results show that there are several recurring discussions, for example about the credibility of user generated content. Another example is the discussion about the use of Wikipedia within the education and school contexts and whether the encyclopedia should be seen as sufficiently credible to use in these contexts. From these discussions we have identified three discourses that we have chosen to call: the knowledge-liberal discourse, the knowledge-conservative discourse and the pedagogical discourse.

    Inledning I studien har populär skönlitteratur för barn analyserats ur ett genusperspektiv. I Läroplan för grundskolan, förskoleklassen och fritidshemmet 2011 (Skolverket 2011, s. 7) står det att en del av skolans uppdrag är att på ett medvetet och aktivt sätt främja kvinnors och mäns lika rätt och möjligheter. Elever skall i svenskundervisningen möta skönlitteratur från olika tider och olika delar av världen och i detta möte skall de ges förutsättningar att utveckla den egna identiteten och sin förståelse för omvärlden (Skolverket 2011, s. 222). I och med att den litteratur elever möter bidrar till identitetsutvecklingen samt att skolan skall arbeta för att främja kvinnors och mäns lika möjligheter och rätt vill jag med den här studien synliggöra hur genusframställningar ser ut i barnlitteratur.Syfte Syftet med undersökningen är att utifrån ett genusperspektiv analysera populär skönlitteratur för barn med fokus på stereotypa manliga och kvinnliga könsroller.Metod Undersökningen genomfördes med textanalys som metodval. Utgångspunkten för analysen var de ord och uttryck som upprätthåller eller frångår stereotypa genusskildringar hos karaktärer. Ett analysverktyg i form av ett motsatsschema användes för att strukturera upp analysen.Resultat I resultatet framgår det att de böcker som analyserats generellt sett oftare är normativa med stereotypa skildringar än de är normbrytande med könsöverskridande skildringar. Det är något oftare kvinnliga karaktärer som framställs både på stereotypt och normbrytande. Sammantaget visar resultatet en jämn fördelning av både normativa och normbrytande skildringar av manliga och kvinnliga karaktärer.

    Abstract [en]

    In this study information-related activities engaged in by engineers during work task performance in the research and development centre at Sandvik Materials Technology AB are investigated. The purpose of the present study was to identify and achieve an understanding of the information-related activities performed by engineers during work task performance in a corporate context. The work task performance in focus is the task of writing a technical report.The study rests on methodological triangulation through the use of a work task diary, a semi-structured questionnaire and focus groups. In total 16 engineers participated in the study. The theoretical framework is based on theories of information in social practice, the information seeking process and the concept of task.The study presents results showing that engineers work in a highly complex information environment and their work task performance is to a high degree affected by situational attributes such as previous experience, type of work task, time, target group, and access to information. The results show that the information sources preferred by engineers have not changed over time; rather a change is seen in the type of sources. There is a distinct increase in the use of electronic sources; which in turn seem to affect the way engineers perceive accessibility. The study also shows that there are evident situational and contextual attributes affecting the information-related activities. Information needed to perform a work task is strongly related to data retrieved from experiments. There also seems to be an embedded tolerance for a low scientific level in technical reports, even though the scientific practice is the norm.This study also shows that the concept of work task forms a relevant basis for studies of information-related activities, particularly in combination with theories on information in social practice. The model of the work task process combined with a faceted classification of work tasks provides a sound methodological tool for the analysis of work tasks in different contexts.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis is a study of Facebook users’ beliefs attitudes and behaviour towards personalised adverts on the site, using Wang & Suns theory about the relationship between beliefs and attitude toward online advertising (ATOA) and the connection between attitude and behaviour. The result, based on qualitative research and interviews, will introduce a deeper understanding and interpretation of users’ beliefs, attitudes and behaviour toward personalised adverts. The result showed that people perceive the site’s personal adverts as intrusive and interfering with their personal space and the purpose of the site. Users also have a slightly more positive attitude towards adverts which were recommended or “liked” by a friends. Furthermore, the result shows that users negative attitude towards the ad also affects their behaviour and interaction with the ads.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this Bachelor thesis is to examine how children describe their experiences of their own reading, with focus on different aspects of reading: Choice of reading, reading environment, response to reading and book talk. Our aim is also to examine which approaches to reading their stories illustrate. The research is founded on semi-structured interviews with six children aged 10, in connection with book talks. For analysis we used Åse Hedemark’s study Barn berättar : En studie av 10-årningars syn på läsning och bibliotek as well as Aidan Chambers’ theories concerning reading and reading environment. Our results show that these children had very positive feelings about the aspects of reading. Several of them expressed that reading was at its best when they felt they forgot about time and space. The outer reading environment was also found to have an impact on these children's reading experiences. Several of them created their own reading places, which were characterized by being perceived as cozy and hidden away from the rest of the world. Despite that, there were also some negative stories, especially concerning reading they were obliged to do by their teachers. A neutral attitude to reading was also shown, in how the children might choose literature based on their friends’ preferences. By talking about their reading with each other, they turned their solitary reading into a social activity.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this master’s thesis is to study the organisational culture of two public libraries managed differently. One of the libraries in my study is run by the local bookstore and the other is run by a staff co-operative. My aim is to elucidate characteristic features in the culture of these two public library organisations. The questions I posed are which types of organisation culture can be identified in the two given examples and what the factors are that may be of importance for these cultures. In my study I use Henning Bang’s definition of organisational culture as a set of common norms, values and comprehensions of the reality formed in an organisation through cooperating within the group and with the outside world. I’ve also used Bang’s division of the concept into content and expression, when I’ve gathered information in my empiric study. The study has contained of texts from and about the chosen libraries, an inquiry answered by all the staff members and interviews with three members from each organisation. I have used Critical Values Framework and Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument as tools for analysing the material. Both libraries in this study can, according to these tools, be characterised as clan oriented. Although the similarities, the organisation culture in the two libraries differs in many ways. My conclusion is that the specific context of history and the driving force of change, are of great importance to the organisation culture.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis is a qualitative study of "Bryggan" ("The Bridge"), a three-year co-operation project between the public library and different associations in Vastervik. The aim of the project was to find new forms for co-operation, which could help both parts in their marketing. "Bryggan" is characterized as an action-related research project, where experiences from the work have been evaluated regularly and have been incorporated to the following process. A study of literature, dealing with adult education activities, developing activities, library extension and democracy, gives the theoretical basis both to the project and to the thesis. The case study describes the different kinds of co-operation during the three years, both with the associations and with other groups and institutions involved.

    A qualitative interview study was made with five library employees and five association members. After having participated in the "Bryggan" project and analysed the interviews, I assert that it is possible to change and develop the activities of the public library through a purposeful collaboration with different associations.

    Inledning

    I skolans styrdokument lyfts muntlig framställning fram i svenskämnets centrala innehåll och utgör en väsentlig del av svenskundervisningen. Elever ska genomföra en betydande del av sin kunskapsredovisning genom olika former av muntliga presentationer i skolan. Det är därför av intresse att ta reda om det finns skillnader mellan pojkar och flickors attityder till muntlig framställning.

    Syfte

    Denna studie syftar till att fördjupa kunskaperna om elevers attityder till att genomföra muntlig framställning i svenskundervisningen ur ett könsperspektiv.

    Metod och urval

    För studiens syfte användes kvantitativ metod och enkät har använts som instrument för datainsamling. Respondenterna är elever i årskurs 8 från tre grundskolor i Västra Götaland.

    Resultat

    Resultatet visar att det finns könsskillnader mellan elevers attityder till muntlig framställning. Flickor föredrar skriftliga uppgifter framför muntliga uppgifter i högre utsträckning än pojkar. Studiens resultat visar att flickor är mer nervösa och osäkra till muntlig framställning. Pojkar däremot innehar en mer positiv attityd till muntlig framställning.

    Abstract [en]

    This paper presents the background, aim and results of a small empirical study conducted in the setting of a medical hospital library. The background is found both in the quality ambitions of the medical professions and organizations and in the effort of medical libraries to show their importance to the total quality of medical decision making. As a first step in the library's quality process, the aim has been to identify quality performance indicators of value to library users in their contact with a medical hospital library. The second step- to identify satisfaction levels - is not included in this work. Another aim has been to compare the quality categories in this small study with the generally accepted quality categories that emerged in the comprehensive studies of Parasuraman, Zeithaml and Berry in which customers express their expectations and perceptions of services.

    This study is based on a small number of interviews with representatives from different user groups within a hospital. The analysis is inspired by phenomenography which build on perceptions of phenomena - in this case the phenomenon "quality". In the material from the interviews five quality categories were identified. Compared to generally accepted quality categories from the service sector none of these five categories were unique.

    Important conclusions were that despite the homogeneity of the user group, expectations and needs are different and vary from time to time. Consequently flexibility and individual treatment of library users are crucial if the library is to meet user expectations. But the material also shows that despite access to modern technology users have very traditional perceptions of the library seeing the library as a room. If libraries were to let only user expectations initiate changes, it would lead to stagnation. It is not realistic to rely only on the knowledge or interest of the users.

    Hållbarhetsredovisning är ett förhållandevis nytt fenomen som ökat de senaste 10 åren. De olika intressenterna ställer allt större krav på företagen och på hur de förhåller sig. Ämnet hållbar utveckling omfattar tre olika dimensioner: ekonomisk, etisk/social dimension samt miljö. Hållbar utveckling är inget som i sin helhet regleras i lagar. Däremot regleras delarna som miljöpåverkan och arbetsförhållanden i olika lagtexter och förordningar. Att det inte finns någon enhetlig reglering kan vara bidragande till att det kan vara svårt att se det som en helhet. Syftet med vår studie är att utifrån företagens perspektiv se vad de gör för att bidra till en hållbar utveckling och om det skiljer sig mellan större och mindre bolag. Ytterligare ett syfte är att beskriva vilka fördelar och nackdelar det ger företagen att arbeta med hållbar utveckling, och om det finns någon dimension som är viktigare Uppsatsen bygger på en framför allt kvalitativ metod, då vi genom intervjuer gått ut till de utvalda företagen och låtit dem genom förutbestämda frågor svara på hur arbetet sker på respektive företag. För att få en så hög tillförlitlighet som möjligt har sedan respektive respondent fått materialet tillsänt sig för att kunna verifiera det som skrivits om dem. Normalt följer dessa mindre företag lagen och önskar att de hade mer resurser för att öka utvecklingen och ”ligga i framkant”. GRI: s riktlinjer följs inte av företagen på denna nivå. Kanske kan implementeringen av GRI: s riktlinjer utökas nu i samband med att statligt ägda bolag blir tvungna att följa dessa. De företag som vi varit i kontakt med har istället olika miljömärkningar som till exempel Öko-Tex, EU-blomman eller ISO certifiering för att stärka produkternas image bland konsumenterna.

But with this open-door-policy the people working at the library are vulnerable to potential threats and violence from the public.

    Face-to-face interviews were conducted with six librarians at three different libraries in the Västra Götaland region. The questions asked during the interviews regarded what kind of conflicts took place at the libraries and what safety precautions the libraries had to handle conflicts.

    Repeated themes could be noticed at all the libraries that participated in the research. The two most notable groups that could be identified as “problem groups” were young people and disadvantaged groups. The size and the budget of the library had a significant effect regarding what kind of security services could be purchased.

    The findings of this research showed that the libraries have several safety precautions in place already. Even with regards to budget cuttings there were other ways the libraries worked to guarantee the safety of its employees.

    Sedan 2008 bedriver folkbiblioteken och folkbildningen i Örebro län och i Dalarnas län ett samverkansprojekt ”Folkbildning och folkbibliotek till ömsesidig nytta”. Vi kallar projektet emellanåt också för ”vinna/vinna-projektet”. Projektet utgår från att folkbildning och folkbibliotek har samma värdegrund och bakgrund. Folkbildningens och folkbibliotekens uppbyggnadsfaser och blomstringstid är delar av framväxten av vårt svenska folkhem. De är båda svar på drömmen om det goda demokratiska samhället. Sedan kommunaliseringen av folkbiblioteken har de båda verksamheterna dock glidit alltmer i från varandra och utvecklats åt olika håll. När folkbibliotekens och studieförbundens vägar väl korsas beror det troligen mer på lokala initiativ än strukturerad och långsiktigt planerad samverkan. Frågan som vi ställt i projektet är om det finns en väg till en plats där folkbibliotek och folkbildning kan mötas på regelbunden basis. På kommunal nivå kan man i viss mån säga att folkbiblioteken och studieförbunden konkurrerar om samma ekonomiska medel. Även om det skett en hel del nedskärningar för folkbiblioteken så har de ändå en avgörande betydelse för de kommunala kultursatsningarna. Runt 40 procent utgörs av de kommunala kulturanslagen satsas på folkbiblioteksverksamhet. Samtidigt har de kommunala bidragen till studieförbunden minskat kraftigt under senare år och ligger numer på 17 procent i genomsnitt. Det finns även exempel på kommuner som inte längre ger några bidrag till studieförbunden överhuvudtaget. I stället får folkbildningen alltmer förlita sig på statsbidrag.

    Abstract [en]

    The main object for this thesis is to study how students in library and information science at Högskolan i Borås search and valuate documents in the process of writing a paper. The study is based on a series of interviews with 12 students. Our methodology is also based on studies of their final product. The goal of the study was to map out how the students make their decisions during their search process. We studied the students use of search words, relevance judgements and how their need for information changed trough out the writing of their paper. Our theoretical background is based on articles that describe similar studies but in more specified areas. In our study we try to make a more general evaluation of the information seeking process. In the thesis we show how librarians could be of better use in their interaction with students and that the biggest problem for the students is that they are inconsistent. We also discuss some myths for example that more search ways results in better documents and that more references gives a better paper. We come to the conclusion that this isnt always the truth. In our findings we try to show how students in the same situation as our informants can be helped by being aware of the needs and problems that can occur during the writing of a paper and not making them themselves. We also hope that librarians can find use of our thesis as they help students in the future.

    The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how companies can use event marketing as a tool to create new and strengthen existing customer relations. The method used to examine these subjects was a quantitative study in form of a questionnaire. The thesis’ theoretical framework is based on the subject event marketing and leads into customer relations and event design. The empirical data is collected through a questionnaire given to 50 respondents on a Beer and Whiskey exhibition in Gothenburg in Sweden. This thesis’ conclusion can be summarized as following. Event marketing is a marketing method which organizations use to reach communicative goals; it’s a good way to create an interaction with consumers during the event. Companies should determine the needs of their target group to create an experience for the consumer which is as personal as possible. This experience should create or reinforce the image of an organization and thereby create good customer relations. This thesis is written in Swedish.

    User Experience plays a big part in web design. A bad UX can lead to users not finding what they´re looking for, or not understanding how to use the website. This study uses fou rmethods to examine User Experience on the website hagabadet.se. It starts of with a survey and a contextual inquiry to generate data that will show the main issues of the website. From the result of the two studies, two new method sare created to continue analysing the issues and to find a solution to them. The following methods are card sorting and CI with prototypes. These methods focus on analysing how the users want information to be structured. The result of the study show that the users need a better structure of information to find what they need, and that they are missing some important elements to be able to accomplish what they want on the website. New prototypes combined with examples are made to illustrate a development proposal that could improve the UX of the website.

    Bakgrund Vi har valt att belysa bildpedagogikens framväxt i Sverige och ge en överblick av viktiga föregångsgestalter och deras pedagogiska synsätt. Reggio Emilias pedagogiska filosofi presenteras, där idén om att använda en ateljerista i den pedagogiska verksamheten startade. Några av Loris Malaguzzis tankegångar kommer även synliggöras. Vidare belyser vi hur Reggio Emilias pedagogiska filosofi kom till Sverige, estetiska lärprocesser och läroplaner. Vår teoretiska utgångspunkt är Vygotskijs sociokulturella teori. Syfte Denna undersökning har gjorts i syfte att få en ökad förståelse för några ateljeristors förhållningssätt till barns bildskapande. Metod Vår studie har en hermaneutisk ansats. Vi har valt att använda oss av kvalitativ strukturerad intervju för att få inblick om hur verksam ateljerista och blivande ateljeristor tänker om sin yrkesroll. Resultat Informanterna upplever att de blivit tryggare och friare i sin yrkesroll genom sin ateljeristautbildning. De framhåller vikten av de estetiska uttryckssätten och att barnens ”hundra språk” stimuleras. Processen ses som central och ateljeristorna vill ge barn frihet inom ramarna i deras bildskapande. Barnen ska få möjlighet att arbeta med olika tekniker och material, utforska och nyttja närmiljön i lärandet. Informanterna arbetar gärna projektinriktat med mindre grupper, utifrån barnens idéer och intressen.

    Ett antal inspirationsväskor har sammanställts för vuxna om barn. I nuläget finns 87 väskor till utlån. Väskorna innehåller oftast mellan 5-9 fackböcker för de vuxna och några barnböcker eller annat material för barnen. Det kan vara allt från spel, dockor till DVD. Tanken är att genom att hjälpa de vuxna att på ett enkelt sätt hitta litteratur om nyare forskning och annan inspirerande litteratur så kommer det i förlängningen alla barn tillgodo.

    Abstract [en]

    This Master's thesis examines some aspects of children's books for 9-12 year olds, and the children's books market, from a gender perspective. The main objective is to make a gender analysis of attitudes among children and other agents in the book market towards children's books of different qualities. Children's reflections on gender roles in the books and the importance of gender aspects for publishers in the field, are investigated. A combination of methods are used, including literary analyses, surveys of publication lists of the BTJ group Bibliotekstjänst interviews with children and questionnaires sent to children as well as to Swedish publishers of children's books. The analysis of children's books clearly shows that images of gender roles vary in different kinds of books which supports theories of gendered literature. The thesis concludes that the division of girls' and boys' literature may influence images of the opposite sex. The girls more easily cross gender barriers and are encouraged to do so in their choice of books by title which is not true for the boys. Thereby they acquire more knowledge of the boys' world and can develop an understanding and empathy for the opposite sex. The publishers did not use any common criteria for valuation and had different opinions on the importance of a gender thinking when judging a script. Most publishers considered other aspects to be more important and would not necessarily refuse a book with sexist components. Finally the thesis suggests some methods for choosing and judging children's books to librarians and teachers who wish to encourage gender positive reading.

    Inledning

    Skillnaden mellan tjejers och killars kläder från ett identitetsperspektiv har debatterats i media de senaste åren, liksom vikten av att få klä sig hur man vill samt att få vara den man vill vara. Utifrån detta är det angeläget att undersöka barns uppfattningar om kläder utifrån ett könsperspektiv.

    Syfte

    I vår studie vill vi undersöka vad förskolebarn anser vara ett accepterat klädval utifrån enpersons kön. Genom observationer av barns reaktioner när en förskollärare läser den normkritiska boken "Viktors nya tröja” hoppas vi kunna få en inblick i hur barn resonerar kring innehållet i boken och hur de ser på vad som är accepterat i klädväg utifrån olika könsnormer.

    Metod

    Vi har valt att genomföra observationer av ett boksamtal. Den kritiska hermeneutiken användes som metod för analys. Vi gjorde sex observationer och dessa genomfördes i grupper om två-tre barn per grupp, födda 2011-2012, samt en förskollärare. Under observationerna fördes löpandeprotokoll.

    Resultat

    I vår studie såg vi att barnen reagerade med nyfikenhet på den normkritiska bok som lästes avförskollärarna. Barnens åsikter var ganska samstämmiga när det gällde hur normer för tjejkläderrespektive killkläder ser ut. De var dock öppna för att killar kunde gilla de kläder och färger som ansågs tillhöra normen för tjejer och tvärtom, men det fanns en viss oro för att ett normbrytande klädval kunde leda till att man blev retad.

    The reuse of clothing is a growing consumer practice and often originate from the consumers wish to be unique, buy at a low price and make an eco-friendly choice. The motives for reuse have been studied but very few have explored why these motives emerge. Therefore, one might wonder whether there are demographic aspects behind the attitudes. This thesis is meant to contribute to the gap in the literature. The purpose is to explore if class and class identities affect conceptions on reuse of clothes. The research has been conducted by interviews with five consumers within the manager and professional classes. Data has been analyzed with Bourdieu’s theory on habitus to identify the participants cultural or economical capital and if it creates a habitus affecting conceptions on reuse. The analysis shows there is a dominant conception on reused clothes as objects with high cultural capital and low economical capital. Because of this conception consuming reused clothes must be chosen freely in relation to the consumers economical capital. Conceptions are closely related to class identities. The participants do not ideate the working class and the manager class consuming reused clothes due to its low economical capital. A conception of the middle class with a high cultural capital is linked with a conception on reused clothes with a high cultural capital. The study found several conceptions related to class but no correlation between the informant separate class identity and consumption of reused good could be found. This thesis is written in Swedish
