The University of Borås offers a 2ECTS course in research data management designed specifically for doctoral students. According to feedback, the doctoral students appreciate learning practical skills applicable to their doctoral projects and developing a critical understanding of data management. The course has even attracted the interest of other university researchers.
Data management plans are becoming increasingly ubiquitous, potentially providing a competitive advantage when included in research proposals. Researchers, aware of this, need the university to provide opportunities to acquire the necessary and relevant skills.
To provide a responsive and targeted learning environment, the university library plans to offer four research data management workshops to researchers in the fall of 2023. One workshop will focus on the unique challenges of artistic research in the textile, fashion, and design fields. The other three will focus on the data management plan through the research process, from proposal to work in process to potentially publishing datasets at the end of the project. The university library coordinates the planning and execution of the educational effort, with input from other professional services such as Archive and IT, the Grants and Innovation Office, and the university's Research Ethics Committee.
Focal aspects:
· Collaborative planning for educational efforts
· Researchers, including in artistic research, specifically textile and fashion design
