The aim of this study is to shed light on the informationseeking of older seniors, a group of people which has, tomy knowledge – up till now – been unexplored withinlibrary and information science. The purpose is to gainmore knowledge about how older seniors seek and useinformation in their everyday life. Furthermore I wantedto investigate the cognitive and affective needs andbarriers of the respondents in their search forinformation. The method I used was semistructured interviewswiththree older seniors which gave me an insight intotheirinformation seeking behavior. The interviews wereanalysed with the help of Wilson’s model of informationseeking behavior from 1981.The empirical findings point to the conclusion that therespondents live a life much like most people. For them itis important to follow the news and keep being informedabout what goes on in the world. Perhaps notsurprisingly, the primary source of information in theeveryday life of older seniors is the computer and theInternet.
