Acoustic properties in composite floor slabs : a study of the airborne and impact sound insulation in a prefabricated floor slab of concrete and timber (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This report is a part of the one year master programme in Civil Engineering - Sustainable Built Environment.

The report focuses on the acoustic properties of a prefabricated composite floor slab built with three main components; a thin concrete slab, timber beams and a cross laminated timber slab. Initially a study of the environmental impact of the building industry, and how more effective use of building materials can contribute to a more sustainable development, is made. A study of how different sounds affects people is made and also how this is considered by different requirements in the Swedish building regulations to reach a more sustainable built environment.

The studied floor slab is part of a cooperation project between Hedareds Sand & Betong AB, AB Fristad Bygg, The University of Borås and SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden and the sound tests are made in an acoustic laboratory at SP in Borås. The results of the tests are evaluated and are compared with the building regulations as well as with other types of floors. A study of the types of complements that are needed to reach the requirements in the building regulations is made.
