Effects of Washing : A Study on the Mechanical Properties of Newly Produced and Recycled Polyester in Bed Sheet Fabric (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study aims to investigate the effects of washing on the mechanical properties of newly produced polyester and recycled polyester in bed sheet fabric. The purpose of this study is to assess whether recycled polyester maintains equivalent properties to newly produced polyester after repeated wash cycles. To investigate this, tests were conducted both before washing and after repeated wash cycles to evaluate the materials ability to withstand external stress. The results of the study show that recycled polyester generally has better resistance to washing, as smaller changes in the materials mechanical properties were observed after repeated wash cycles in the following tests: pilling, abrasion resistance, tear strength, and tensile strength in the weft direction.
