Recovery during work hours, does it exist? : A study on preschool staff's work demands and recovery opportunities (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study explores recovery during working hours for preschool teachers and childcare workers, focusing on how job demands, control, and support at work impact their recovery opportunities. The study is understood through Karasek and Theorell’s demand-control-support model as well as Goffman's dramaturgical perspective. Methodologically, a qualitative approach was chosen, with interviews with preschool teachers and childcare workers serving as the method for collecting empirical data. The results show that high job demands, combined with limited control and varying levels of support, negatively affect the staff’s ability to recover during working hours. The concluding chapter of the study highlights the importance of improving working conditions by increasing staff influence in their work and access to supportive resources if increased recovery during working hours is to be possible.
