The different aspects of usability of a website are essential things to study when building a website, this to ensure that the users´ interaction with it is easy, intuitive and with minimal frustration. SÄS (Södra Älvsborgs Sjukhus), a Swedish hospital has engaged a researcher to evaluate the usability of their website. The evaluation processes consisted of log data analysis and different in-person usability testing techniques, based on contextual inquiry and think-aloud methodology. Reviewing the test results, it was found that users both tended to navigate only a few of the websites many pages as well as having tremendous trouble completing certain tasks. The usability tests revealed many problems related to the websites design which need to be handled due to the forthcoming reconstruction project of the entire website. Several different suggestions for improvements has been made related to structure, content, placement of elements etcetera. Usability testing supplemented by log data analysis has been found to be an excellent way of identifying the websites problems and flaws, as well as where these are to be found. This study should be continued by engaging more users in interaction with the future reconstructed site. Observations and evaluations of the users´ actions and opinions should then be used to reach the goals of usability that the hospital is striving for.
