Web sites' importance has become a key aspect to consider for all types of businesses who want to provide their customers some kind of service or product. In fact, the importance of this aspect has become increasingly evident and has increased the competition for visibility and survival on the internet. In order to achive this, a development team need to understand the users, to be able to adapt it to their needs. That is why the aspect of usability is an important part and therefore is made a key aspect to study in this context. The purpose of this study was to investigate a local newspaper's website and how well it achieves the criteria for good usability. The aim of the work was that, with the help of a pilot study and a number of user tests and interviews, identify potential development prototypes. The outcome of the study shows that the site is generally a site with good properties that convey relative good usability. However, it contains some shortcomings were the global navigation and the operation for logging in should be addressed and developed. Development prototypes have thus been founded from the information that emerged from the methods of the study's data collection but also from well-founded theory, which is why conventional design principles of good usability and user-centered aspects have been taken into account.
