The aim of this thesis is to gain knowledge about the aprroaches which public librarians hold towards technology, and towards library systems in particular. The thesis focuses on what influence public librarians have in decision making processes at work and how this relates to their approaches to the library system. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with four librarians with different positions in their respective organization. The findings show that the participating librarians only worried about technology in the work tools were new to them, or if changes in the library system occurred without previous information. The level of the librarians’ influence in the decision making process varied depending on their positions within the organization, but all librarians, regardless formal position, experienced problems concerning the employees influence on decision making.
