Who does what : A quantitative user study about young peoples library habits in relation to gender (English)
Abstract [en]

This essay is a user study which aims to examine how young people use the public library and if there are any differences concerning their gender, and if so – which these differences are. In this essay I have used a gender perspective to interpret the varations in the useage of the public library I have been able to identify.

To study this I have distributed a survey on different public librarys and I have also been gathering answers by a web-survey. These questions were about their library habits, what they do during their visits and what they usually lend from the library.

The results show that much of how youths use the public library is mostly the same regardless of their gender. The things they mainly do during their visits is to borrow books and use the library to do their studying. Although, there are some minor differences to how young girls and boys answer the survey questions.
