In response to the need for a beneficial learning strategy, this study analyzes the textbook Simsalabim (Ingelsten & Pollack 2012), designed for fourth-grade primary Swedish school pupils, to explore the possibility of integrating multimodality and literature in language learning. Employing a qualitative approach, the investigation is instructed through compiling relevant concepts, grounded in socio-semiotic and multimodal perspectives. The study focuses on a specific chapter, In the World of Fairy Tales, extracted from the textbook, available in digital and paper formats. The findings reveal that including multimodal elements and literature within the textbook can offer pupils a new perspective, thereby positively influencing the language learning process.
