Managers' perspectives on hybrid work (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This research report is based on the relatively unexplored phenomenon of hybrid work and how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the implementation of this way of working. The report has been prepared using a qualitative method and semi-structured interviews with six respondents. The respondents are six managers whose employees have access to a hybrid way of working. We have worked with predetermined themes based on our research questions, thereby collecting theories and previous research that can help us complete a multifaceted discussion of results. When coding the empirical data, interesting and tangible sub-headings to our themes were developed, which helped us to get a broader picture of our material. The final analysis of the results, together with the previous research and theories we have discussed in the report have led us to the following conclusion. When the Covid-19 pandemic paralyzed our society, most organizations were reorganized and the hybrid way of working increased dramatically. The technological development in our society had contributed to the implementation of the hybrid approach sooner or later, but this event accelerated the process. The approach is seen as a positive development for working life but is also in a development phase where opportunities, problems and challenges such as the physical and psychosocial work environment responsibility, technology, flexibility and social support. These challenges can be seen from both a positive and negative perspective depending on how the development appears and this needs to be highlighted and problematized.
