Digital transformation during crisis situations : The impact of digital maturity in educational activities (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

When the world was faced with the crisis Covid-19 pandemic, businesses were affected by adaptations and changed working methods. The Covid-19 pandemic contributed to the need for businesses to engage in teleworking and improve their IT capacity in order to move forward in their digital transformation. To be able to carry out a digital transformation, digital maturity, digital competence and digital tools are central parts. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether the degree of digital maturity affects a digital transformation within educational activities in a crisis situation. The purpose of the study is to identify how a digital transformation is affected depending on the degree of digital maturity in an educational activity. The study was conducted with the help of a qualitative research method where seven semi-structured interviews formed the basis of the study. The respondents consisted of teachers and staff from various departments at the University of Borås, where everyone worked or taught at a distance. The results show that the degree of digital maturity plays a decisive role in how digital transformation can be implemented. The degree of digital competence has also been shown to be a contributing factor to whether digital maturity is high or low. The people who master and apply digital tools best are also those who have been shown to have high digital competence and high digital maturity.
