Seniorer och E-handel: En studie om seniorers upplevda teknologiska hinder inom e-handel
2018 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

A lot of companies choose to use the internet today for merchandising and to sell their products. In the recent years, e-commerce has had a very large extent in Sweden. This essay’s focus is going to be on seniors and why they do not use e-commerce to the same extent as other age groups and what technological barriers do they experience in relation to e-commerce. This study is designed in a qualitative way to gain a deeper understanding of the subject. Five semi- structured interviews and user tests with seniors of the age 65+ have been done. The results of our study show that seniors do not see the benefits of e-commerce but only the risks. There is a negative attitude towards technology and unwillingness to do something new and change the traditional shopping of products, including medical products. This unwillingness is primarily affected by lack of trust and security in e-commerce. The user tests also show that seniors experience difficulties with web design and usability.
