Abstract [sv]

Sjukvården ställs inför ökade krav i och med den ökade livslängden. Att anta nya styrningsmodeller är ett sätt för sjukvården att hantera dessa krav. En modell som många offentliga organisationer använder är Lean. Mycket tyder dock på att det finns svårigheter med implementeringen av Lean inom sjukvården. Syftet med denna uppsats är att få reda på hur denna modell har implementeras på Södra Älvsborgs Sjukhus och vilka utmaningar som uppstått vid implementeringen av modellen, samt hur dessa har hanterats. För att få svar på detta genomfördes en fallstudie med hjälp av en kvalitativ metod. Fem intervjuer genomfördes, där intervjupersonerna hade ledande positioner. Genom deras upplevelser och erfarenheter kunde vi samla in empiri som var grunden till vårt resultat. Studiens analys genomfördes utifrån tre teoretiska utgångspunkter, vilka var hälso- sjukvården som en svårstyrd verksamhet, förändring leder till motstånd och implementeringsproblematik. Med hjälp av detta kom vi fram till att det finns delade åsikter kring hur Lean implementeras och att många av utmaningarna som uppstår i samband med detta är på grund av att sjukvården är en komplex organisation.

Abstract [en]

Healthcare is faced with increased demands as the life span increases. Adopting new governance models is a way for the healthcare system to handle these requirements. One model that many public organizations use is Lean. However, there are many indications that there are difficulties with the implementation of Lean in healthcare. The purpose of this essay is to find out how this model has been implemented at Södra Älvsborg Hospital and what challenges arose in implementing the model, and how these have been handled. To obtain an answer to this, a case study was conducted using a qualitative method. Five people were interviewed, where the interviewees held leading positions. Through their experiences, we were able to gather empirical evidence that was the basis for our results. The study's analysis was conducted on the basis of three theoretical starting points, which were health care as a difficult-to-manage business, change leads to resistance and implementation problems. With this, we came to the conclusion that there are shared views on how Lean is implemented and that many of the challenges that arise in connection with this are due to the fact that healthcare is a complex organization.
