This work explores the way the motif of the face is perceived and interpreted when represented in an abstracted manner in relation to garments. One of the main objectives of this research is to challenge and question the perception of the motif of the face by using random, ordinary objects as a sketching tool in order to examine how the audience reads the abstracted face and how does it relate to the garments. The aim of the project is to create garments with the motif of the face where the elements of the motif are two-dimensional and three-dimensional in the same outfit while application as a way of emphasizing the motif is used. This investigation results in a collection of nine outfits in which a new approach to designing garments is developed.
