Weaving with material properties- Contrasts and expression is an explorative work in the field of textile design. The aim is to explore the properties of cork as main material together with classical basic bindings in the weaving technique.
The primary motive is to investigate the potential of combining the weaving technique with cork to design weavings with possibilities to shape, fold and form. The aesthetic is much about excluding elements and let the material, bindings and composition lead to a result.
The design method is practice based and the woven samples are made on handlooms or by hand. The result is three woven pieces in combination with cork as main material. Together they illustrate different possibilities for further developments of the materials as products for the interior design, sculptural or artistic expression.
