Abstract [en]

This work is about knitted textiles in the field of textile design. The interest lays in the interaction and playfulness of creating various expressions trough one piece of textile, in the direct interaction with the material. The use of the drawstring is central, to help create interactivity and help changing the expression and shape, to create two and three dimensionality. 2D-sketches and 3D-prototypes in non-textile material is essential in the development of the pieces. Along with experiments on both hand knitting machine and industrial flat knitting machines working hands on with the material. The project shows three different aspects on the knitting techniques and the changeability in the textiles, that can have possible application in a spatial context or in a fashion context.
