E-health services : A study of factors that affect an increased degree of use of E-health services (English)
Abstract [en]

The aim of this study was to determine factors that affect the users and potential user’s attitudes towards using or not using public e-health services, specifically 1177 Vårdguide. We also wanted to find out the current user’s experiences around these factors. The goal was to find out where 1177 Vårdguide should focus on further development of their services and to find out what motivates the users and the potential users to use the service.

The study was conducted with a mixed research method using web surveys which was mostly quantitative but also qualitative open response options occurred. The survey were related to a single case which were 1177 Vårdguide. To find out which factors that significantly affects 1177 Vårdguide and which to focus on during the survey, we reviewed previous research. This showed that usability, availability and security were key factors and therefore the study was built around these factors.

The result showed that potential users attributed great significance to the questions around the three factors for them to use this types of services, while the users saw some problems related to the factors when using 1177 Vårdguide. Usability emerged to be the most important factor among users. Within usability, it was Error handling when interacting with the system which most of the users saw a problem with on 1177 Vårdguide. On the other hand, security was the most important factor among potential users. The result also added a fourth factor which was marketing.

Last in the study, there were suggestions made on what 1177 Vårdguide should focus more on when improving their services and there were also suggestions made about how they can attract more users and preferred channels for reaching out to the potential users.
