Writing has been the most important tool in knowledge organization KO. In our modern society we can use our speech as a technical tool to seek information. Can we apply speech as a tool to organize information? The aim of this masters thesis is to problemize speech aspects in the field of knowledge organization KO. The investigation has two main parts and I use a hermeneutic approach. A focal point in the first part is bibliographic languages, and through this examination I have tried to find the principles with information organizing. For the second part, the area of speech recognition has been chosen and prosody has been examined as the main issue with speech as a tool for information organizing. As a result, I found that speech is very different from writing. To apply speech aspects in KO, we perhaps need to find perspectives and methods in which the speech aspects will be relevant. However, there are some principles in KO which do not easily change. Description and standardization are two of them. Such principles can be applied in information organizing of speech.
