Organizational culture’s impact on knowledge sharing : a research review (English)
Abstract [en]
A research review shedding light over organizational culture
and its affect on knowledge sharing. The purpose of the
review was to give an overview of the current research
meanwhile answering the research questions how and why
organizational culture influences knowledge sharing.
Through careful selection of articles, from Journal of
Knowledge Management, a review of the material led to
areas of emphasis being identified: motivation, trust,
organizational structure, management, communication and
rewards. For each area of emphasis the results from the
chosen articles were presented and analyzed, leading to
conclusions that the how and why of organizational culture’s
influence is due to mainly individual motivational factors
amongst staff. This implies that organizations need to keep
focus on the psychological factors affected by organizational
culture when looking to make knowledge sharing more
efficient. Future research is advised to continue looking in to
social aspects of knowledge sharing and organizational
culture, amongst other things.
