Government agencies, blogs and credibility : A study on the blogs Rymdbloggen and Väderleken (English)
Abstract [en]

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to examine how the concept of credibility express itself in the two blogs Rymdbloggen and Väderleken. Rymdbloggen and Väderleken are written by two Swedish government agencies; Rymdstyrelsen and SMHI. The theoretical framework are theories about credibility. The method in the thesis is qualitative content analysis and the empirical material are blogposts from the two blogs Rymdbloggen and Väderleken and searches on the blogs. The two research questions are:

• How does the concept of credibility express itself in the two blogs Rymdbloggen and Väderleken?

• What are the differences or similarities between the blogs in terms of credibility?

The results shows that credibility can be expressed in several different ways. The credibility can increase when the blog is structured and when the sender is presented. Both Rymdbloggen and Väderleken present their sending government agencies in a clear way. However, the result also showed that credibility is negatively affected if the blogposts are not categorized in a user-friendly and functional way.
