This study examines how change communication can assist in transfer of training by asking the following research questions: How can theories about change communication be used to increase transfer of training in further training? How does the relation between the course Lösningsfokus i skolan (Pedagog) and current research about transfer of training look like? What kind of communication can improve transfer of training? The theoretical framework consists of theories about transfer of knowledge and three theories about change communication: change communication in child care, conversations of change and diffusion of innovation. The importance of actually talking about the change in the workplace brings all the theories together.
The study is conducted through a case study where further training for teachers constitutes the case. Data has been gathered through mapping of communication channels, observation and three qualitative interviews. The data has been interpreted through theoretic analysis.Findings in this study conclude that change communication can assist in transfer of training when the process reaches the work place by supporting managers and staff in taking the right actions – for example starting a conversation about how to implement the new knowledge and act accordingly.
