Method development of pull-out tests on individual fibres in concrete (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The concrete technology has been used for several centuries and the iron reinforcement technique was first used in the late 1800s. In the 1874 A. Berard, USA, was the first person who applied for a patent for fiber-reinforced concrete and much research has been done on the field since then. In the 1960s the fiber reinforcement technology started in earnest and it has become increasingly common to add fibers to the concrete. Fiber reinforcement is mainly divided into four categories: glass fibers, steel fibers, natural fibers and synthetic fibers; in which carbon fibers are included. When fibers are used in concrete the result is a concrete with improved crack control and increased toughness. The aim of the project was to develop a working method to extract attempts by individual fibers of concrete; see how the mechanical behavior worked; and draft proposals on the specimen design. The work has been divided into three parts. The first part is a literature review of previous research on fiber-reinforced concrete, and what has been done about the excerpts attempts of individual fibers. The second part is to develop a method for excerpts attempts, including the design of the test specimen and preparation. The final part includes the implementation of testing on different types of fiber, evaluation of results and validation of the proposed method.

The study resulted in a recommendation for an easy review of the approach and methodology course that will make it easy for other stakeholders to carry out similar checks. Suggestions on what can be improved have been developed.
