Human IT : a target group adapted e-journal design (engelsk)
Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to develop a new website for a scholarly journal called Human IT. Being a scholarly journal the website consists of large amounts of text, making it difficult for users to quickly find the information they are looking for. The new website is designed to meet the needs and expectations of the target groups, aiming to simplify their tasks while using the website.

To achieve this we have used qualitative methods such as contextual inquiry and A/B-testing and quantitative methods such as web questionnaires and analyses to determine what the users expect from the website. We have also used literature and established practice when developing the website.

The results of the empirical research along with the wishes from the clients formed the requests and guidelines for the new website. The study showed that users require structured text to make the information easy to find as well as some graphical elements. Users also want different ways to navigate, including a search box and browsing functions. At the end of the study we performed follow-up user tests with the new website and made the final adjustments.
