Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This thesis have been made towards a Swedish fashion company that have had incomplete graded measurement specifications due to lack of grading knowledge. This gave the suppliers relatively free rein to grade the models since they didn’t have many measurements to follow. When a new pattern maker was hired by the fashion company new graded measurement specifications was developed by the pattern maker to ensure that the models had the same grading regardless of which supplier whom produced the models. Since the fashion company only controls the base size of each model, size 36 for women’s wear and 48 for men’s wear, the company doesn’t know if the suppliers have followed the new grading rules. By measuring 5 models, in each viable size, that are reproduced each year the used grading was analyzed. Personnel from one of the company’s stores was interviewed to see how the costumers experienced the different sizes in each model. The grading on two of the models were controlled by checking the grading on the patterns the suppliers had graded. The grading was then compared to the grading on the measured models and what had been said during the interview. The result of this was that the models mostly were graded correctly and that the divergent grading of the measured models were caused during another part of the production and not by incorrect grading of the patterns.
