How Instruct Future Researchers in Primary Source Literacy and/or Archival Literacy in University and College Libraries? : a Rapid Review of the Literature Published 2016–2022 (English)
Abstract [en]

Primary source literacy and archival literacy instructions in university and college libraries have increased in number and popularity during the last 20 years. In this master’s thesis I conduct a rapid review of the published literature on the topic between 2016–2022. A narrative synthesis, based on four conceptual approaches, structures the presentation of data. It shows that primary source literacy and archival literacy instructions in university and college libraries focus on describing, analyzing and contextualizing primary sources and archival material, while skills in searching, finding  and accessing primary sources are underdeveloped. Furthermore, the analysis shows that primary source literacy and archival literacy instructions are often subject specific, and created with the university or  college archives or special collections in mind. A new and strong trend in primary source literacy and archival literacy instructions is critical analysis of  the archives and collections themselves.
