Ambulanssjuksköterskors upplevelser av stöd efter traumatiska händelser2024Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year)), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Ambulance nurses are regularly exposed to traumatic events in their work which poses a risk for various forms of mental illness. Despite awareness of the risks and the importance of support, weaknesses in the existing support system persist. These weaknesses affect not only the well-being and work performance of the nurses but also patient safety. The purpose of this thesis was to describe ambulance nurses’ experiences of support following traumatic events to increase the knowledge about the significance of support after such events. The thesis was conducted as a qualitative semi-structured interview study with an inductive approach. Data collection and analysis generated three categories: organizational deficiencies, organizational assets and meaningful factors outside the organizational support structures, followed by eight subcategories that formed a structure. The results show organizational deficiencies, a lack of structured action plan and lack of time for processing. Meanwhile, organizational assets such as the value of supportive counselling and supportive manager. Meaningful factors outside the organizational support structures were described in the form of collegial support and personal responsibility. The interviewed ambulance nurses emphasized the importance of proactive and long-term support. The thesis highlights the importance of a structured and tailored support system for ambulance nurses after traumatic events. Improvements are required to ensure their mental health and ability to deliver high quality care.

Digitalt inkluderingsarbete inom offentlig service: En kvalitativ studie om tjänstemän inom myndigheter och deras möjligheter och hinder att påverka det digitala utanförskapet2024Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The work with digital inclusion within public services, which focuses on ensuring that all citizens have access to the digital public services, has become a critical factor as digital transformations increasingly occur within the public sector. This study examines the role of civil servants in the Swedish public sector in promoting digital inclusion, an important endeavor in an increasingly digitalized world. Digital inclusion is about ensuring the opportunities for everyone, regardless of their conditions, to use digital tools to access public services. Using Lundquist’s (1992) theory of understanding, ability, and willingness, along with qualitative semi-structured interviews with civil servants from Arbetsförmedlingen, Skatteverket and Försäkringskassan, this study highlights both the opportunities and challenges they face in implementing digital reforms within the public sector. The results show a variation in opportunities and barriers such as more efficient processing times, but also obstacles in the form of lack of motivation among citizens and possibilities for better internal communication within the authorities. The results underline the need for cross-sectional cooperation to successfully implement digital services and contribute to a more inclusive digital future.

    Abstract [en]

Public organizations with a societal mission in schools and education are constantly changing and evolving, especially universities. Due to the ongoing increase in knowledge and societal development, a long-term plan is needed to continue working and improve the quality of the area. In 2016, the government established a trust delegation (SOU 2019:43) assigned to public organizations, empowering them to work with a more trust-based governance ideal within their operations. The purpose of the delegation was to streamline activities for citizens by finding a good balance between trust and control. Although trust-based governance and management are often perceived as positive, there are challenges for professionals in decision-making and the frameworks that organizations must adhere to. The complexity challenges the balance between trust and control; managers still need control over the organization, while employees are given increased autonomy in decision-making. The purpose of the study was to shed light on the experiences of managers and employees, as well as the conditions within a knowledge-intensive organization like the University of Borås, concerning the application of trust-based governance and leadership. Through the semi-structured interviews, their reflections and experiences around the governance ideal were identified. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed through coding to find relevant themes, which were then summarized to answer the study's research questions. The results of the study show that all respondents experience the trust ideal as positive and as a good prerequisite for developing the organization as a whole. What the respondents highlight is that communication and trusting relationships are the key to success in the various operations at the University of Borås. Even though the study highlights positive aspects, it also reveals certain complexities and challenges associated with the ideal.
